Network and Wi-Fi : Library and Chapel Network Outage [RESTORED]Issue started on Sunday, January 22 around 11 a.m.
CURRENT STATUS: The Network and Wi-Fi in the Library and Chapel has been restored. The campus wide outage that occurred on Sunday, January 22, 2023 was caused by a network error in Collins Library. Rebooting the switches and other actions resolved the majority of the campus outage, but also caused an additional error for Collins Library. The immediate issue has been resolved which restored connectivity to Collins Library and Kilworth Memorial Chapel. Additional work is in progress to prevent this network issue from happening in the future.

Network and Wi-Fi in Collins Library and Kilworth Chapel is Restored

Dear Members of the Campus Community,

The Network and Wi-Fi in the Collins Library and Kilworth Memorial Chapel have been restored. 

The campus-wide outage that occurred on Sunday, January 22, 2023, was caused by a network error in Collins Library. Rebooting the switches and other actions resolved the majority of the campus outage, but also caused an additional error for Collins Library. The immediate issue has been resolved which restored connectivity to Collins Library and Kilworth Memorial Chapel. Additional work is in progress to prevent this network issue from happening in the future.

Network and Wi-Fi : Update on Library and Chapel Network Outage Issue started on Sunday, January 22 around 11 a.m.
CURRENT STATUS: The Network and Wi-Fi in the Library and Chapel are currently down due to an inter-building fiber failure. TS currently has an external resource onsite helping troubleshoot and remediate the issue. TS is working to ensure this issue is resolved by the end of today. An update will be provided as new information is available or if more time is needed to resolve the issue.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: 

  • Please find alternatives for printing and internet access, as they will not be available in the library until this is resolved. We are very sorry for the inconvenience.
  • Here are a few resources while the network and Wi-Fi are unavailable in Collins Library and Kilworth Memorial Chapel
    • Electronic Library Resources: The library website and electronic resources remain available if you are connecting to them from outside the library building or from off-campus. 
    • Computer Labs: Here is a list of computer labs across campus. 
    • Printing Locations: Here is a list of student printing areas across campus. 
    • Rescheduling Events: If you need to reschedule an event or have questions about other meeting locations please contact reservations@pugetsound.edu.

Thursday, January 26 @ 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.

SYSTEMS IMPACTED:

  • DEV: all PeopleSoft DEV environments will be unavailable [CS92DEV, FN92DEV, HR92DEV]
  • TST: all PeopleSoft TST environments will be unavailable [CS92TST, FN92TST, HR92TST]

REASON FOR IMPACT: Standard maintenance to maintain a secure, reliable environment

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • Communication about maintenance on PeopleSoft DEV and TST environments are delivered to the PeopleSoft distribution lists.
  • Communication about maintenance for PRD environments are routed through the TS Communications distribution list.

Network Maintenance – 07/18/2017 to 07/19/2017 [COMPLETE]

Networking will be doing maintenance on the evening of 07/18/2017 and into the morning of 07/19/2017.  This work will consist of moving the internet and network gateways which will cause intermittent internet and network outages.  Services affected may include internet, wireless, and VOIP.  Network outages will usually be localized to buildings and be very brief.
