[Original] Some members of the campus community have reported receiving an increased number of junk email messages. Unfortunately, we are having an issue with Outlook and Outlook Web Access (Webmail) junk email filtering not functioning at the moment. While junk email is still being filtered on the email server, any local junk email settings or filtering that you may have set up in Outlook or Webmail are not being applied. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to resolve this issue. If you have any questions, please contact the Technology Service Desk at 253.879.8585.

[Original] Members of the campus community have reported difficulties with receiving email from external (non-Puget Sound) email addresses. This is related to the server maintenance and resulting delivery interruptions from yesterday. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
Mail delivery to and from the Internet during the evening of Sunday, 4/13 suffered several interruptions due to maintenance on email services. Delivery should be back to normal now, but we are still tracking the situation.
Thank you for your patience.
Most Puget Sound technology systems including, but not limited to, Cascade, PeopleSoft, Moodle, Mahara, Webmail, and the university’s blog server were not affected by Heartbleed, the serious vulnerability in OpenSSL that has been in the news over recent days.
Technology Services has applied updates to wireless controllers and the university’s web server to address the few areas possibly affected by Heartbleed. We are only recommending a change of Puget Sound password for those users of the university’s content management system (CMS) who have logged into the web server from an Internet connection outside the university’s network. All other users do not need to change their passwords unless they feel inclined to do so as an added precaution.
For questions or assistance, please contact the Technology Service Desk at 253.879.8585 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
