Campus Systems Unavailable Due to Scheduled Maintenance 07/10/2016 [completed]

[update 07/10/2016 12:45 p.m.] The single sign on component of Cascade has been finished.

This concludes our planned patch maintenance and database migration for this weekend.

[update 07/10/2016 11:55 a.m.] We’re nearly complete with our work except for the single sign on component in Cascade is still outstanding. This will only affect users attempting to log into Cascade via the web. The other back-end processes in Cascade are verified operational.

Our database migration to the new storage array was successful and PeopleSoft is fully operational.

The rest of our production systems have been successfully patched.

An update will be made when the single sign on component has been fixed. This is expected to be resolved this afternoon.

[Update 1/10/2015 9:00 PM] We have nearly completed our production patch maintenance.  All systems have been fully patched as of 11:40 AM except for one portion of Exchange (our email and calendar system).  We expect to have that portion finished up tomorrow.  We do not expect that it will have any impact on end users. We’ll post an update to the blog when the final portion has been completed. If you experience any difficulties please contact the service desk at x8585.

Cascade Maintenance at 6:30 PM 10/24/14 [Completed]

[Original Post] Cascade will be unavailable beginning at 6:30 p.m. today so we can perform some necessary maintenance. The outage should last no more than 15 to 30 minutes. An update will be posted here once the work is done. We appreciate your patience!

[Resolved 6:59 PM 10/26/12] Post-outage testing was successful. We apologize for any inconvenience this unscheduled outage may have caused.

[Update 6:35 PM 10/26/12] We have implemented a fix to the issue, and are putting the system through its paces before we call the issue resolved.

[Original post] Automatic monitoring alerted our team that the Cascade system became unavailable at 5:00 PM. We have traced the problem to our database server and our database administrators are troubleshooting. There is no ETA. An update will be posted at 7:00 PM, or earlier if more information becomes available.

[Resolved] Login to Cascade and other systems unavailable – 05/16/2012 3:23 pm

[Updated 05/16/2012 4:53 pm] Access to all systems has been restored.  Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

Members of the campus community are unable to login to Cascade, Kronos, Banner, and the Online Service Desk.  Logged in users are unaffected; it is the authorization process that is currently not functioning.  We are working to restore access as quickly as possible.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

[Updated 04/16/2012 3:10 pm] Access to Cascade Web has been restored. Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

Members of the campus community have reported that they are unable to login into Cascade Web.  They are redirected to an Internal Server Error message page.  We are working to restore access as quickly as possible.  We apologize for the inconvenience.

Friday Update on Logon Issues for Affected Staff

Email, Cascade, and most systems requiring a Puget Sound login should be accessible by the 210 staff members affected by yesterday’s account issues. We continue to work on residual issues associated with some of these accounts. [Updated 11/17/11 6:37 p.m.] Email service has now been restored for affected users. We continue to work to address any residual issues affecting accounts and permissions for these particular members of the Puget Sound community. Your patience and understanding are greatly appreciated!

[Updated 11/17/11 3:37 p.m.] At this time, affected users are being notified individually by the Technology Service Desk that access to Cascade has been restored. We continue to work to restore email and access to other services which require a Puget Sound login. We sincerely regret the inconvenience and thank you again for your patience!

An issue has arisen which affects the Puget Sound login for certain members of the campus community. If you are in this group, you may not be able to log onto university computers or access email, Cascade, Moodle, or other accounts which require your Puget Sound username and password.

We are working to restore service as quickly as possible, but this issue may take several hours to resolve. We appreciate your patience and apologize greatly for the inconvenience.

Updates will be posted here, and affected users will be notified directly as new information becomes available.
