Residential and Dorm Wired Network: Planned Maintenance

Wednesday, April 9, 2025 | {Harrington Complete}


SYSTEMS IMPACTED: 

  • Harrington was completed this morning and the remaining residential and dorm buildings will be rescheduled for another date 

REASON FOR MAINTENANCE:

  • To ensure a secure, reliable computing environment, TS made changes to the Network Access Control system. All Wired Networks were unavailable during the maintenance window. 

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW:

  • Campus and Guest Access Wireless Networks were available during the maintenance window. 
  • Computers and other devices connected to the Wired Network did not have access. 
  • There will be another scheduled outage for all residential and dorm buildings except Harrington

SYSTEMS IMPACTED: 

  • Inbound and outbound internet access 

  • GlobalProtect VPN 

  • Blue emergency towers 

  • Systems requiring Internet connectivity on the Puget Sound campus, such as Zoom phones

REASON FOR MAINTENANCE:

  • To ensure a secure, reliable computing environment, TS will be completing routine firmware updates on our network security appliances (firewalls).

 

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW:

  • During the maintenance window, impacted systems will be intermittently unavailable for short durations of time (~1-5 minutes).

  • Security Services will remain reachable at (253) 879-3311 during this time.

CURRENT STATUS: 

  • TS and the Office of Finance are investigating why duplicate entries are showing for people reviewing their Annual Budget, Carryover Projects, and Grants & Projects. TS will update as new information is available. 

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW::

  • Please do not continue to request any transfers or corrections for entries that appear to be duplicates until after you receive notice that the incident is resolved.
