Thank you for your patience as we continue to work through the current campus network outage. Technology Services is still working this evening on resolving the issue. The next update will be provided by 7 a.m. tomorrow morning or earlier if new information is available. 


Next Scheduled Update: 7 a.m. on Tuesday, March 28, 2023


Systems Impacted: 

  • Computers will not be able to access internet connectivity on the Puget Sound network.

  • All other systems requiring network connectivity on the Puget Sound campus such as phones and printers may not work as expected.

  • Services hosted on campus like my.pugetsound.edu and other sites such as Pugetsound.edu may not be accessible. 

 

Additional Information:

  • If you are working remotely and are unable to login to login.pugetsound.edu, try logging into PugetSound.okta.com to access myPugetSound and other Puget Sound Systems. Reminder that not all systems will be available due to the network outage.

STATUS UPDATE: 

  • There is currently a campus wide network outage impacting the ability to connect to the internet and Puget Sound systems. TS has additional support en route to address the issue. We do not have an updated ETA, but will continue to provide updates every 2 hours or as new information is available.

The TS team has been investigating the cause of the network outage and believe it is related to a down firewall which they are currently working to remediate. {PUGETSOUND NETWORK} Planned Firewall Maintenance – March 13 and 14, 5:30 a.m – 8:00 a.m.

Technology Services (TS) will be performing critical network maintenance Monday March 13th, 2023 and Tuesday March 14th, 2023 from 5:30 a.m. – 8 a.m. Details on the maintenance being performed are available below:

SYSTEMS IMPACTED: 

  • Inbound and outbound internet access will be intermittently unavailable for short periods of time (~2-5 minutes) during the maintenance window

  • GlobalProtect VPN will be intermittently unavailable

REASON FOR IMPACT:

  • To ensure a secure, reliable computing environment TS will be completing routine firmware updates on our security appliances (firewalls).

  • Multiple firmware updates are required.

Sunday, February 19 @ 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. [COMPLETE]

SYSTEMS IMPACTED:

Update: The campus-wide network outage planned for Sunday morning has been cancelled. The remaining planned maintenance will still be performed as scheduled, from 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.


From 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. a firmware update will be installed on our core switches. This will cause a full network outage on campus resulting in the following:

  • Internet access will be unavailable on campus.
  • Accessing services on campus that require a network connection will not be available including email, file shares, PeopleSoft, and other services.
  • Zoom phones connected to the campus network will not work.
  • Wifi will be unavailable.
  • Wired network will be unavailable.

From 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., the following systems will be intermittently unavailable:

  • Campus file servers
  • myPugetSound.edu
  • PeopleSoft Human Resources
  • PeopleSoft Financials
  • PeopleSoft Campus Solutions
  • vDesk
  • Various Puget Sound systems and applications

REASON FOR IMPACT: To ensure a secure, reliable computing environment, TS will be completing routine patch maintenance on our Puget Sound production servers.
