Switch failure in Trimble 107.

The defective switch has been replaced, so Trimble network is back to normal.  8:30pm 4/6/2013.

A switch failed in Trimble 107 IDF causing an outage of the wireless and most of the basement and first floor wired jacks. We have restored the wireless and most of the building, by by-passing the defective switch. We are working to configure a new switch and replacing it asap. I would anticipate approximately one hour before the entire building is back in service.              9:10pm 4/6/2013.

K20 Internet Outage

K20 has notified us that their connectivity issue has been resolved.
Problem Resolved : 03/06/13 09:50 PST

Our K20 Internet provider for all of our academic buildings suffered a major outage affecting multiple sites across the state.
We have recovered from the majority of the impact, but some sites are still unavailable on the internet.
They are working on the problem, but do not have an estimated time of repair.
FIRST DOWN: 03/06/13 09:22 PST

SafeConnect Server Memory Upgrade

We will be upgrading the memory on our SafeConnect server tomorrow morning between 6:30-7:30am. This should not impact users. Basically the network access control will be opened up during the time the server is down. I will need to have Impulse Point evaluate the server after the memory is installed. Once the server is back in operation, the network access control will be turned back on. Only users that are not compliant will then be blocked again.

The upgrade is complete and the server is back online. No issues incurred. 7:30am

[Resolved] Network access issues for certain users 01/30/2012

[Updated 01/30/2012 5:14 p.m.] Network access has been restored for affected users.  Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

Some members of the campus community have reported that they are unable to access the Internet.  They are being continuously prompted to install the Safe Connect Key, and are constantly being redirected to that page, restricting the ability to access off-campus websites.

We are working to restore service as quickly as possible.  We appreciate your patience and apologize greatly for the inconvenience.

Updates will be posted here as soon as they become available.

SafeConnect Software Upgrade

We have a software upgrade for SafeConnect from Impulse Point scheduled for tomorrow morning from 5:30-7:00am.
During the upgrade process, there may be momentary network interruptions.

During the majority of the software upgrade time, the server will be in by-pass mode allowing users to continue using the network. We do not anticipate any major issues or downtime.

The upgrade completed successfully.

Wireless SSID Change

We modified the wireless networks to remove “logGers”

We added SSID “PS-CampusAccess”

we hid the advertizing (broadcast) of “logGers-secure”

We started at 6:30am and was complete by 7:00am.

Scheduled Maintenance on Core Router

I will be upgrading the IOS on our Core Router (Cisco 6905) at 5:00am tomorrow morning (Tuesday Feb 8th).

The upgrade is to enable a new 10GB interface slot card.

All preparations are already in place, so I expect the downtimes to be short (5-10min each) and intermittent between 5:00-6:00am.

During the downtimes, all inter network-connectivity will be disabled.  There will be no access to any services or resources during this time.

This will include but not limited to: email, internet, databases, VPN, etc.
