Unable to Load External Websites in Wyatt 9/21/2015 [Resolved]

[Updated 11/19/2015 3:15 pm] After extensive research and troubleshooting, we believe we’ve identified a fix for this issue, and have put in in place. Early reports are that wired internet connectivity has been fine for Mac users in Wyatt (wireless and Windows wired users were unaffected). Thank you very much for your patience.

[Original Post] We have received reports that some individuals in Wyatt have been unable to load external websites (websites that aren’t hosted here on campus). They are able to reach internal (pugetsound.edu) websites without issue. We apologize for the inconvenience, and are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

Internet Unavailable 5-6 a.m 9/17/2015 [Completed]

[Updated 5:36 a.m., 9/17] The icampus internet returned to service at about 5:20 a.m. Update work  is complete. We were successful in increasing the bandwidth on the connection to 5 Gbps.

[Original] The campus internet connection will be unavailable from 4:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. Thursday, 9/17 as we continue work begun last Friday morning  (see http://blogs.pugetsound.edu/tsmaintenance/?p=3503) to upgrade bandwidth from 1 to 5 Gbps.

Internet Unavailable Due to 5 Gbps Upgrade 4-6 a.m. 9/11/2015 [Complete]

[Update 6:27 a.m., 9/11/2015] Internet service was restored a 6:04 a.m. after an outage of 1 hour, 50 minutes. Due to issues with some non-Puget Sound equipment, the upgrade was cancelled, and Puget Sound’s internet bandwidth remains at 1 Gbps.

[Original] Campus internet service will be unavailable from 4-5 a.m. the morning of Friday, 9/11/2015 as we upgrade service from 1 Gbps to 5 Gbps. Service may also be sporadic from 5-6 a.m. The internet will resume normal operation by 6 a.m.

Internet interruption between 5:30 – 6:00 a.m. 8/28/215 [Completed]

[Update 7:15 a.m.] Internet service was restored at 6:05 a.m. after an outage of 7 minutes. The equipment upgrade was completed successfully. We are currently testing to determine whether this has resolved the issue noted below.

Wired network connection issue 8/25/2015 [Resolved]

[Updated 8/28/2015 2:45 pm] As of 6:00 am this morning, this issue has been resolved. Thank you for your patience!

[Original Post] We are currently experiencing an issue with the quality of service on our wired network. You may experience large (over 500 MB) downloads from Internet sites failing. These downloads can be resumed, and eventually will download successfully. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

Brief Internet Interruption between 6 and 6:30 a.m. 8/26/2015 [Completed]

[Updated 6:29 a.m.]  The work has been completed. Service interruption was less than 10 sec.

[Original] Internet service will experience a brief interruption of less than 5 min between 6 and 6:30 a.m. on the morning of Wednesday, August 26th as we remove some outdated network equipment.

VPN Connections Unavailable 6/12/2015 [Resolved]

[Updated 10:43 a.m. 6/15/2015] Our internet service provider has communicated that this issue was resolved. These problems were due to a region-wide routing issue, and continued until about 8 p.m. Saturday night.

[Updated 1:45 p.m. 6/12/2015] Some of the issues have been due to versioning issues with the VPN client, which have been resolved. Many other members of the campus community still report being unable to connect. This has been traced to problems at our internet service provider. They are currently trying to resolve the issue.

Network Interruption 5-5:10 p.m. 6/11/2015 [Complete]

[Updated 5:07 p.m. 6/11/2015]  The maintenance has been completed successfully. Internet connectivity is fully restored.

[Original] Thursday evening from 5-5:10 p.m., TS staff will need to perform some urgent maintenance on critical network infrastructure. During this time all outside network services will have no availability.

Residential Internet Service Degradation 8/29/2014 [Resolved]

We will be doing some configuration changes to the residential internet this morning to solve some service degradation (slow internet speeds). This may cause some short drops in the residential internet during this time. This affects only the residence halls, houses, and Union Ave. fraternities and sororities; academic and administrative internet connectivity will not be affected.

[Updated 2:00 p.m.] Configurations were completed around noon, and the residential internet is returned to full service. Thank you for your patience.
