Internet Outage – 2/15/2017 [Resolved]

UPDATE: K20 has informed us that the maintenance was completed as scheduled.  The total down time was less than 10 minutes.

Our main internet provider will be doing an urgent configuration change tonight from 11 PM to 1 AM to address a software bug.  The internet will be unavailable for periods of up to 5-10 minutes during this time.

On Saturday 2/18/2017 from 8am to 5pm, Network Services will be doing maintenance in the following buildings:

Weyerhaeuser
Field House

Network services including data, wireless and VOIP will be unavailable for periods of 15-30 minutes in each building throughout the day.

This work is necessary for to improve network connectivity through-out the campus.

Fieldhouse and Aquatics Network Unavailable Due to Scheduled Facilities Maintenance 01/13/2017 [completed]

Facilities has completed their work.

Facilities is performing scheduled electric maintenance in the Fieldhouse. This means all network-related services (phone, internet, wifi) will be unavailable until the power is back on.

Internet Outage – December 28th, 2016 [Resolved]

 

Update: Our main Internet has been restored by our provider.

Our main internet provider K20 is doing maintenance that will cause intermittent disruptions to the internet from December 28th 8 PM to December 29th 2 AM.  Access to VPN2 will also be intermittent during this time.  However, all internal network access will be unaffected.  Our secondary internet link will remain active.  If there is a need to gain access to internal network resources please use VPN1.

Network Maintenance – McIntyre/Wheelock [COMPLETE]

Network Services has restored network functionality to all campus buildings.

Network Services is aware of a partial campus outage and working toward resolving the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.


 

Networking will be replacing some equipment between 4am and 6am on November 3rd, 2016.  This work will cause intermittent network outages including data, wireless and phones.

Buildings to be impacted:  Wheelock and McIntyre.

Wheelock is also a main network distribution point and the following buildings/homes and will also be effected:

  • Administrative/Staff Buildings: PCS, Security, Communications, Kittredge, Ceramics, Student Diversity, Faculty, SDC, SDJ
  • Student Homes:  All student homes on Lawrence and east of Lawrence

Campus Wifi Disruption [resolved]

[update] Network Services has resolved the issue with wifi. Thank you for your patience.

[origianl] The Network Team has reported that there are network issues affecting the some parts of campus including Wheelock and the Library. Users may experience a loss of wireless internet connection. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Network Disruption in South Thompson 10/14/16 [Resolved]

[Updated 10/14/2016 1:45 pm] As of 1:00 pm, we believe the network issues in Thompson to be resolved. If anyone is experiencing any connectivity issues, please contact the Technology Service Desk. Thank you for your patience.

[Original Post] The Network Team has reported that there are network issues affecting the south part of Thompson building. Users may experience loss of internet connection (both wired and wireless).  We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Campus Systems Unavailable Due to Scheduled Maintenance 09/18/2016 [completed]

[update 09/18/2016 10:00 a.m.] Our scheduled production server patch maintenance has been completed successfully.​​

[original] Production server patch maintenance is scheduled for Sunday, September 18, from 3:00 a.m. until noon. During this time, all campus systems will be intermittently or entirely unavailable. Affected services include the university website, myPugetSound, PeopleSoft, Cascade, Moodle, campus file servers, and Exchange (email and calendar). An update will be posted once this maintenance is completed.

Technology Services schedules regular maintenance windows, generally on the second Sunday of every month, to ensure a secure, reliable computing environment. Thank you for your patience as we conduct this important work!

VPN Issue 2/24/2016 [Resolved]

[Updated 2/29/2016 5:00 pm] VPN2 is back in service. Thank you for your patience!

[Original Post] We are experiencing an issue with VPN2. As a workaround, please use vDesk, or change your connection attempt to vpn1.pugetsound.edu. In order for vpn1 to work, you will need to make an additional setting change (Settings > Preferences) to uncheck the box to “Block connections to untrusted servers.” We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to restore access to VPN2.

Firewall Maintenance 2/17/2016

Technology services will be doing an update on our firewalls to address a security vulnerability. This work will take place on February 17th, at 5am.

This WILL effect internet access temporarily as the firewalls will need to be rebooted.  The expected down time for each firewall is about 5 minutes.

Internal access will continue to function as normal.
