[Resolved] Moodle Intermittently Unavailable 9/14/11
[Update 6:15 AM 9/15/2011] Moodle service is now restored.
[Update 1:32 AM] Moodle is unavailable as of 11:30 this evening. We are currently working on the problem, and we will have service restored by the start of classes today.
[Update 4:45 PM] Moodle will be unavailable from 7:15 to 7:30 tonight so maintenance can be performed to address the issues experienced today. We hope to see service restored and stabilized once that is done. Thank you again for your patience.
The Moodle learning management system is experiencing intermittent service disruptions at this time. We are working as quickly as possible to stabilize the availability of this service. We appreciate your patience.

[Resolved] vDesk Performance and Printing Problems – Week of 9/5/2011
Throughout this past week many members of the campus community have experienced problems with the new vDesk applications. These have included trouble launching applications and an inability to view or print to available printers. As of Friday morning 9/9/2011 we have been able to alleviate the situation. We continue to monitor the system.

We will be replacing some switches in the basement of McIntyre Hall on Monday 08/15/2011 between 5:30pm and 7:00pm. The network will not be available in McIntyre Hall during that time. This outage will only affect computer access to the network in McIntyre Hall.

The Mahara e-portfolio system (mahara.pugetsound.edu) is currently down. We are aware of the problem and are working to address it. Moodle is NOT affected. Further updates will be posted here. Thank you for your patience!
[Completed] Production Patch Maintenance 07/31/2011 from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm
The Monthly Patch Maintenance has been completed and all systems are back on line. There is no scheduled patch window for the month of August, but a quarterly patch will be scheduled for September.
The Monthly Patch Maintenance is scheduled for Sunday the 31st of July, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. All services may be intermittently or entirely unavailable, including:
- Personal and departmental file shares (on Alexandria and Merlin2)
- Database Applications: Cascade, FAMIS, Millennium, and Banner
- Web services such as www.pugetsound.edu, cs.pugetsound.edu, and Moodle
Database services such as Cascade will be affected during this Patch Maintenance Window.
[Completed] Pre-Production Maintenance 07/21/2011 from 7:00 am to 9:00 am
The Pre-Production patching has been completed at 8:55 am. The next scheduled outage will be Sunday the 31st of July, for all remaining Production servers. A separate blog post will be posted.
Pre-Production Patch Maintenance window for this month will be Thursday the 21st of July from 7 am to 9 am. There will also be a CommVault version 9 upgrade to all servers being backed up by CommVault as well as Oracle Agents to servers which have Oracle currently running. SafeConnect Software Upgrade
We have a software upgrade for SafeConnect from Impulse Point scheduled for tomorrow morning from 5:30-7:00am.
During the upgrade process, there may be momentary network interruptions.
During the majority of the software upgrade time, the server will be in by-pass mode allowing users to continue using the network. We do not anticipate any major issues or downtime.
The upgrade completed successfully.

Scheduled Upgrade for Wireless Network
I will be upgrading the wireless network on Saturday May 28th from about 4:30am to 6:00am. Access to the wireless network during this time will be intermittent. The controller and the access-points will reboot serveral times during the over-all upgrade process.
