[Completed] Residential Internet – Emergency Maintenance Scheduled

[Updated 12:20 AM] The maintenance was completed successfully, and all connections have been restored.

Integra Telecomm has informed us that Emergency Maintenance has been scheduled for our Residential Internet Connection. It is scheduled to start at 12:00 AM (midnight). The outage is scheduled to be 15-20 minutes in duration. Please plan accordingly. All on-campus network access will still be available, but no off-campus Internet access will be available.

This will also cause a loss of VPN access to the campus network.

Integra Internet Outage

We experienced an intermittent service interuption with our Integra Telecomm circuit this morning starting at 8:50am until approximately 8:45am.  The cause was an aggrigation router in Renton.  We observed random ping times and drops until the repair was made.  I believe traffic was passing but slow and unreliably.   The repair is complete and everything is back in service.

We are working with Integra, our Internet service provider for the residential network on campus, to resolve some intermittent service disruptions experienced this morning. We will provide an update when this issue is resolved. Thank you for your patience.

Integra Internet Circuit work scheduled

Integra will be working on installing a new Internet circuit on 8/13/2010 from 6:30am-8:00am intermittent outages are expected, which will only effect the internet browsing on the resnet side of the campus.

Integra circuit is back in operation with minor issues on the Integra side.  We will have to arrange another appointment to finish the upgrade.  07:45am  08/13/2010.

DHCP Disabled on Retiring Host HOUDINI.ups.edu

DHCP on the retiring server Houdini.ups.edu (192.124.98.110) is now disabled.  All hosts requesting DHCP service on the 192.124.98.x subnet now must get this service from dhcp-1.pugetsound.edu.  No user interaction is needed, this should happen automatically.

However, there is a small chance this change will cause mis-configured servers in this subnet to go offline within 24 hours of 5/18/2010 @ 10:45AM when they are unable to renew their IP address.

[Completed] Short Planned Network Outage 3/28/09

As part of the monthly maintenance this morning, updates to the university’s core router were applied. This resulted in a short campuswide network outage (all services) at about 8:30 AM. This was expected, and the outage was about 3 minutes. Network service was restored as expected, and this phase of the maintenance is now complete.

Maintenance will now continue with database systems.

Brief All Systems Outage – 2/5/07

At 5:30 PM today Technology Services staff will restart the university’s core network infrastructure. There will be a brief (< 1 min.) outage on all services, including email, file services, and web service. Cascade web will be unavailable for 20 minutes.

Thank you for your patience.

Scheduled network outage 5:30-6:30am 08/27/2009

It will be necessary for us to reboot the core router between 5:30-6:00am on 08/27/2009.  This will cause the total network to be down during the time it takes the Core Router to reboot.  I estimate about 15 minutes.  This outage may also cause some servers to require a reboot to come back online.  Consequently various services may not be available due to this reboot of the core router.  We expect everything to be back to normal by 6:30am the very latest.  Thank you for your patience and understanding.
