{Howarth Hall} Network/ Phone Outage, June 28 – June 30 beginning at 5 p.m.

Network: Planned Network/ Phone Outage in Howarth Hall

Friday, June 28 at 5 p.m. –  Sunday, June 30 at 6 p.m.

REASON FOR IMPACT: Technology Services is replacing network switches in Howarth Hall. Wireless and wired (Ethernet) connections to the Internet will not be available during the maintenance window. Devices impacted include phones, computers, printers, card access to the building, elevator emergency phone, and any other network devices. Note that this is only impacting Howarth Hall; all other areas on campus will have available wireless and phone access.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

·         Campus members needing access to Howarth Hall during the maintenance window should call security at 253.879.3311.

·         The elevator in Howarth Hall will not be available during the maintenance window due to the emergency phone not being available for use.

·         Other network devices not stated above may need to be rebooted after the maintenance window.

REASON FOR IMPACT: Technology Services needs to update Shibboleth to link to the correct Puget Sound Forgotten Username and Forgotten Password pages. Shibboleth is a tool that enables people to login to sites and systems with their Puget Sound username and password.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

·         People may encounter an error when logging into third party websites with their Puget Sound credentials. This only applies to third party sites that leverage Shibboleth for single sign on (sign on with Puget Sound credentials).

REASON FOR IMPACT: Technology Services is continuing to investigate an intermittent issue with our DHCP server which may prevent some users from connecting to a campus internet connection. As part of remediating this issue, Technology Services will be restarting the server on Wednesday morning.

·         After the maintenance window, if you have difficulty connecting your device to a campus internet connection please wait a few minutes and try again. If waiting a few minutes does not resolve the issue please contact the TS Service Desk for additional support.

SYSTEMS IMPACTED: Time for Non-exempt Employees posted after Friday, October 5 @ 6 p.m. was not showing up for Manager Time Approvers. A workaround has been identified and managers should now be able to view and approve this time. Technology Services and Human Resources are continuing to review and resolve the cause of the issue.
