I Put Up My Christmas Tree before Thanksgiving

This is the first year ever that I have felt like it’s time to put up the Christmas tree before Thanksgiving. Normally, I am one of those people that complain that everyone else who has already started the countdown to Christmas, is just overdoing it. But, for many people including me this year is special, and spreading the Christmas cheers too early would not hurt anybody. It felt like, the Christmas spirit was needed. According to Blair, however, a clinical psychologist in the UK, playing happy holiday music, might in a way make us feel that we are trapped and may even serve as a reminder that we have to buy presents, cater for people, and organize a celebration. While that may get a lot of people to start early with their Christmas shopping, it is not a bad thing for the economy right now. In fact, it is a good thing to boost up GDP (Gross Domestic Product) even if it is by a little bit. Likewise, it just may be that some of us just like to start being overly joyful early but it does not mean that we are skipping Halloween to get to Thanksgiving or skipping Thanksgiving to get to Christmas. It is fun to be in the Christmas spirit, to spread generosity, kindness, and charity towards others. Firstly, Christmas is an opportunity for people to come together whether that be with our immediate family members or using Zoom call or Google-meet this year for the extended family members. It is sitting down together and watching a classic Christmas movie with the family and just being thankful for the people in your life. Secondly, for many, it is a tradition that makes a lot of people happy. It allows families to bake cookies together and make memories. Lastly, Christmas means presents and who does not like presents. That feeling of waking up early in the morning on Christmas day surrounded by your family and friends. Overall, Christmas is so much more than starting early or the presents we receive it is about being together and making memories with our loved ones. Hence, if some of you guys put your tree early this year, embrace it.
