No Maintenance Window for August
Since many important campus activities begin near the end of August, all campus technology services will remain available throughout our normal “last Sunday of the month” maintenance window. Again, all services will be available all day Sunday August 29th.
Cascade Release 10.9 – 09.08.2010
Cascade Release 10.9 is planned for September 8, 2010. This release will include the following features and fixes:
- Add Incomplete Highlight to Advisor Rosters (tracker CAS-3)
- Add Campus Address to Advisor Rosters (tracker CAS-5)
- Enhance Employee Race & Ethnicity Reporting (tracker CAS-7)
- Allow Self-Service Update of Preferred Name (tracker CAS-78)
External DNS Server Migration, 8/3/2010 5:30 AM
On Wednesday 8/3/2010 starting at 5:30 AM the external DNS servers used for the University will be migrated to new servers. No downtime is expected.
www2/www5 Moving to new server, 8:00 AM 8/4/2010
As of 8 AM on 8/4/2010, all websites beginning with www5.ups.edu, www4.ups.edu, www3.ups.edu, and www2.ups.edu (and www2.pugetsound.edu) will be served by a newly upgraded server.
[Resolved] Administrative Applications Unavailable – 7/30/10
Cascade Web Forms, Banner, BOSS, and FAMIS were unavailable from 8:30 AM to 9:00 AM on Friday, July 30, 2010. (The Cascade website familiar to most users remained available.) Service has been restored.

SafeConnect Administration Server Upgrade.

Monday, July 12th between 5:00-6:00am we are scheduled to have a Safe Connect Server Upgrade installed. This process will not effect users on the network. The most noticeable result of the upgrade with be a visible change to the Safe Connect Administration Console.

[Resolved] Banner, Famis and Basis Unavailable – 6/16/2010
Banner, Famis and Basis were unavailable from 6pm – 8pm on Wednesday June 16, 2010. Minimal if no user disruption was experienced. We believe this was the result of an operating system issue on the Tahoma Server which did not impact Cascade. There was a brief disruption to Cascade as the server was rebooted. All services recovered immediately following the reboot.
