NETWORK: Planned Network Outage [COMPLETE]

June 19th, 2020 at 4:30 p.m.

Update: All work has been completed and the network is back up and running.

 

REASON FOR IMPACT:

There will be a short disruption to network services at approximately 4:30PM in Weyerhaeuser.  There is a faulty backup battery system (UPS) that needs to be replaced that is causing intermittent power outages.  We will need to disconnect power from the faulty UPS and reconnect power to a new unit.  This work will take approximately 15 minutes.

Our internet provider K20 needs to upgrade the firmware in their equipment (router) to address a bug and will also need to perform a reboot. 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

·        Campus internet connectivity will be impacted intermittingly (~five minutes) while the router is rebooting. 

·        External access to Puget Sound web sites, email and VPN will be intermittent during this brief maintenance.

Thomas Hall Network Issue – 11/03/2017 [RESOLVED]

Update: There was a power issue that took the network equipment offline in this building.  This issue is now resolved.  All network services are now working.

Network – Certain External Websites Inaccessible

Update: This issue seems to be resolved as we can now access websites that were not working any longer.  Some websites that were not working included Wells Fargo and LogMeIn.  Those sites are now accessible.  If you are still seeing issues accessing websites please let the Service Desk know.

We are currently investigating an issue of certain websites not being accessible.  The problem seems to be downstream from the university network and we are reaching out to our Internet providers to troubleshoot.

Network Maintenance – 09/18/2017 [COMPLETE]

UPDATE:  Maintenance has been completed.

Technology Services will be replacing a switch to fix an intermittent network issue starting at noon today.   Down time should be limited to under 15 minutes and will cause  some wireless, some phones and some network ports to go down.  We apologize for the short notice but this intermittent issue is currently affecting some users phones and network connectivity and needs to be rectified as soon as possible.

Technology Services will be performing changes on the network on 8/17/2017 from 7pm to 12am.  Services that may be impacted include data connectivity, phone/fax, wireless and internet services.  This will work will impact the various areas around campus throughout the night but only for shorts periods of time (usually less than a minute but up to 5-10 minutes).

This maintenance is necessary to ensure the continued reliability and stability of the University’s network.

Network Maintenance August 13, 2017 [COMPLETE]

Networking will be doing maintenance on the core router on August 13, 2017 at 5 am to 8 am.  This maintenance is necessary to patch a few bugs and improve stability on the network.  While this work is being performed the network will go down campus wide for periods of 1-5 minutes.

Services that will be affected include data, WiFi (PS-CampusAcces/GuestAccess), VOIP,  access to servers internally, and internet access.

We appreciate your patience as we conduct this important work.

Network Services will be making changes on the network on the following days:

August 8, 2017 6 AM – We will be migrating the server network gateways onto the new Juniper core router.  This will cause a momentary disruption between data networks and server networks but all inter-network traffic should continue working (example: server to server).  The disruption should only last for a few seconds.

August 9, 2017 10 PM to 3 AM – We will be attempting to migrate the internet gateways onto the new Juniper core router.  This will cause intermittent disruption of all outbound and inbound internet traffic throughout the night.
