Web server replacement (www2.ups.edu)

Next week we will be moving web content on www2.ups.edu to new web server hardware. This is a routine replacement of an older web server. The move will take place on Tuesday evening, August 19, beginning at 5 PM and ending early morning on the next day, August 20. During this time it will not be possible to update websites on this server; however, the website itself will be available for normal viewing at all times. This will have no effect on content served from the main University web server, www.ups.edu.

Banner printing was down

Banner printing from job submission was down from Tuesday afternoon on July 8th (sometime after 3) until 11 a.m. on Wednesday morning, July 9th. The cause was incorrect privileges that had been applied to the banjobsfinances sub-directory on Rainier as the result of a user account change request. The jobs were running, but the reports could not be saved on Rainier and thus were not able to be printed.

Border Router Upgrade

We have successfully upgraded our network Internet Border Router.  As you might remember we were experiencing problems with our Internet connection due to our existing Border Router being undersized.  We have now successfully upgraded the hardware to properly handle the internet traffic we have experienced and what is projected for this comming academic year.  We hope you will realize higher reliability with this new equipment in place.

Main web server down briefly

The main university web server (www.ups.edu) experienced errors caused by the Ingeniux (CMS) application this afternoon. Content was restored from backup, although this version of the content is a few days old. When the publishing operation finishes in about 30 minutes, all current content will be restored. If you are a content provider who published pages between 3:00 to 3:30 PM, we recommend publishing them again after 5:40 PM. Thank you.
