The time in the Library Windows domain drifted off this morning. Tardis 2000 was applied to keep the time synchronized.

SQL Servers Patched with SP3
Veronica and Vashon were patched with SQL Server 2000 SP3. Vashon has not yet been rebooted.
ACADEMIA Domain problems
Problems with domain logons in ACADEMIA prompted a reboot of the controller for that domain.
Concurrently, the clock on ALEXANDRIA ran wild, apparently due to a problem with the index server on that machine. ALEXANDRIA was rebooted, and the problem went away.
Antivirus gateway hang
Antivirus gateway hung this morning at 8:30. System was rebooted.
Cascade Application Server Reconfgured
The Cascade Application Server, shasta, was rebooted after reconfiguration of its network card to 100 Mbps, full duplex.
SSR Rebooted
In order to solve a telnet hang (known problem for Cabletron), the SmartSwitch Router was rebooted at 6 AM.
Adjustments to PIX
Adjustments to the PIX firewall rules were made to allow the ezproxy server to function, and to allow encoding and management of the streaming media server.
New PIX Firewall Installed
New Cisco PIX Firewall was put in place last night. Some adjustments to the rules was necessary, but all functionality, except for PCAnywhere access, should be in place.
External DNS Fixed
Found an improper MX record in the main zone in the external DNS.
Repaired it.
Micros Server Restarted
The Micros (cash register) server was restarted
Media Server Rebuilt
server media.ups.edu was rebuilt with Red Hat linux version 7.3, and RealServer version 8.01, after a hard disk failure and replacement.
