There is no reason that vacuuming has to occur during open hours…OBNOXIOUS!!
We understand that vacuuming can be disruptive to study! We’re using alternate solutions—a carpet sweeper, a quiet vacuum— but any vacuuming that is done during the day is done only for a brief period of time.
At this time of year, the Library carpet gets covered with pine needles and debris very quickly, and we don’t always have custodial services assigned to the building during the 2:00 am to 7:30 am period that we are closed. Therefore, we try to keep on top of the building maintenance. In addition, we have many groups meeting in the Library, and sometimes we must clean up before an important visit or event.
We take great pride in our building and want to support our hard working custodial staff. We really appreciate your patience when we must take a few minutes during the day to perform maintenance at the Library.
We are keeping this problem on our radar, and we will also make sure to keep the noise level under control during reading period and finals week.
