Wheelock Network Equipment Replaced

All network equipment in Wheelock Student Center was replaced. Cabletron equipment was replaced with Cisco equipment.

Cisco 6509 installed

New Mail Server Hardware install

Mail Server Hardware Installation Complete – Nearly

The installation of and changeover to the new email server hardware is complete. Proxy servers, email delivery, Webmail, dialin access, and account management interfaces (password changes, etc.) should be online.

The listserv system is not working correctly yet, but will be brought online tomorrow.

CPU replacement on Baker

New Disks Installed in tahoma

Bill performed final installion of the new disk shelves in tahoma. Downtime was approximately two hours. The Oracle application server on SHASTA was restarted and the Cascade web menu was refreshed.

SDLT Tape Drive Installed on MERLIN2

A new SDLT 320 Tape drive was installed on MERLIN2 to replace the existing DLT4000 tape system, along with a new SCSI Controller card. The replacement was successful. A backup was initiated immediately which was projected to take 4 hours to complete.

Replaced SYSTEM3 Disk on Baker

A 2.1 GB RZ28D SCSI disk failed on Baker. The volume was SYSTEM3. The failed disk was replaced and data was restored with no reboot needed.
