A Cisco 6509 was installed, and replaces the Enterasys SmartSwitch Router (SSR).

This was a replacement whose timeframe was accelerated due to the Nachi worm infestation that occurred on the night of the 18th (yesterday).

Because of the Nachi worm, the campus network was dismantled (all subnets were disconnected from the core SSR). When the network was reassembled, reconnection to the campus network was done through the new 6509.
