HALLOWEEN!

Halloween is my favorite holiday, by far. (Second only to the 4th of July, because, c’mon, fireworks) Every year, I try to come up with the best costume, which often leads to little sleep and lots of money being spent. This year wasn’t much different, but I was extremely happy with how my costume turned out! I went as Elizabeth Comstock, a character from my favorite game of the year, Bioshock Infinite!

With the help of my incredibly creative mother, I threw together a costume all with stuff from Goodwill. My good friend Darrin Schultz ’16 also dressed up as my counterpart, the main character from the game, Booker DeWitt! I was so darn proud of how we looked together I thought I’d share a picture of our costumes. First, here’s some reference for the characters, if you don’t know the game!

And now (drum roll, please), here are our costumes!

elizbookerTah-dah! They’re not completely spot on, but apparently they were pretty good since we got recognized all weekend when we wore them! The validation that comes from someone running up to you saying, “OH MY GOSH I KNOW WHO YOU ARE THAT’S SO COOL”, is what makes Halloween my favorite. Another good year under my belt! (And who knew I’d make an okay brunette?)

Out and About

This weekend was Homecoming and Parents’ weekend, and my I was lucky enough to have my mom come visit! We went out and explored some fun little places while she was here, and since she brought a friend, we decided to return to the charming town of Poulsbo. Thought I’d share some pictures from our adventures!

Potter Pizza

A few nights ago, I called The Cellar (the underground pizza place here on campus) to order a pizza. When I went to pick it up, this is how they’d written my name on the box.

Needless to say, it made my night.

Artist of the Day: Mercedes deBellard

The artist I’ve found particularly inspiring recently is a very talented lady by the name of Mercedes deBellard! I came across her beautiful illustrations one day and thought I’d share: Daenerys Targaryen and Arya Stark from one of my favorite TV shows. Game of Thrones!

Simply stunning work, and definitely inspiring. Check out the rest of this artist’s awesome stuff here!

Art Among Us

One of my favorite things about being an art student is being able to spend so much time in and around the art buildings on campus. Why? Because everywhere you turn, there’s hidden art! Students and faculty alike leave little artistic treasures around for discovery all the time. I snapped a few pictures of my recent favorites…wish I knew who they belong to!

Fall Break Breakfast

This last weekend was fall break for us Puget Soundies, so a few of my friends and I decided to get breakfast just off campus at one of our favorite places: Shakabrah, on 6th street! I took a few photos on our little expedition and thought I’d share them. (After all, Tacoma is sooo pretty this time of year!)

Logger “State” Fair

This last Wednesday was the annual “Logger State Fair” in the SUB, the student union building (more commonly known as the place of eats). Complete with fair food, some goofy games, and even some sweets! Nothing to lighten up a tough week like cotton candy and snowcones.

Surprise Visitor!

Yesterday afternoon, I was studying with some friends when I got a a call from a number I didn’t recognize. Turned out to be my father!

IMG_4140

He was in Seattle for a business trip and ended up having some free time that night, so he came down to Tacoma and took me out to get sushi! Since it’s been midterms week, this was a pleasant and just wonderful surprise visit. Nothing gets rid of midterms stress like a little sushi and some goofing off with your dad! (:
