Summer Creativity

Just because I was away from campus and all my art classes this summer doesn’t mean I didn’t keep my creative juices flowing! Over summer, I decided to find a project for myself. It was perfect timing too because a good friend of mine, Ani, was moving into her brand new apartment come fall and needed some stuff to fill it up with! After some extensive webernet searching, I came across the perfect project: A framed paint swatch dry-erase calendar!

Here’s my process:

  • rob a hardware store of almost all of their paint swatches
  • find a sketchy craft fair/flea market and buy a shabby frame from a neat old lady
  • get ripped off buying glass for said frame
  • raid a craft store and buy too many stickers and adorable things
  • arrange, cut, and glue down swatches in correct order
  • ???
  • PROFIT

I stuck the glass in the frame and surprised my friend with it–she loved it and it now sits on her desk in her new home!!

To be completely honest, after all the work and money I put into this thing, I had a hard time not keeping it for myself.

Ah well, next time! I’m just very glad Ani liked it. A summer of creativity well spent!
