CIO Provides Expertise on Cloud Computing

Chief Information Officer William Morse was recently interviewed by University Business magazine to provide insight on selecting the right cloud computing partner. In the article, Morse, who has a law degree from Emory University, notes that during the contract negotiation phase, “Everything must be negotiated. Spending the proper amount of time at this stage is key to the university protecting itself.” In his time at Puget Sound, Morse has lead the successful multi-year effort to implement Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system to replace the previous legacy, homegrown solution.

myPugetSound Becomes Official University Portal

Links to myPugetSound have replaced those to Cascade in prominent locations on the university’s website, including the standard footer and gateway dropdown menus for students, faculty, and staff. The change was announced in a recent email to campus from William Morse, CIO and Associate VP for Technology Services.

“With the addition of staff access earlier this week, myPugetSound is now available to the entire campus community,” Morse reported on Friday, March 13. “I am pleased to say that, in reaching this important milestone, myPugetSound will become the university’s official portal for accessing academic and administrative information.”

Morse noted that Cascade is still available, but myPugetSound will serve most campus members as their sole portal for accessing university systems.
