The average tourist in Costa Rica is most likely bound for the beautiful beaches and resorts, not the cracked and dirty city of San Jose. But this is real Costa Rica. This is \u201cPura Vida\u201d (The Costa Rican saying that means everything from \u201chello,\u201d or \u201cgoodbye,\u201d to \u201cthank you,\u201d or \u201clife is good\u201d).\u00a0 Yes, it is a city of crime, but it is also a city of kisses on the cheek and friendly smiles. It is beautiful in its own right.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ellenmmueller.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/08\/img_1047.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-10\" src=\"http:\/\/ellenmmueller.files.wordpress.com\/2014\/08\/img_1047.jpg?w=300&amp;h=225\" alt=\"IMG_1047\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Fun fact: I was surprised to see a sizable population of hipsters in some parts of the city.
