  • Met with Gayle to discuss plans for web strategic plan; committed to developing policy and strategic plan drafts for next Monday’s follow up meeting.

  2. Sent note to Katherine Davis about legal implications of third party URLs (ie, hirepugetsoundstudents.com) and hosting external sites long-term on our servers.

  1. Working with Michelle Jones to schedule Food in Film night in February. Reserved King Corn from library; sent note to Mike Veseth trying to track down student filmmakers for local food documentary to show. Got email from Kendle that they would love to take part. Asked her to send me copy.
  2. Left message for Jay Becker regarding scheduling backup speaker for 2.3.
  3. Confirmed John Inch (and Kristi Lynett) for Feb. 3. Tacoma Power backup if needed?
  4. Set up outreach meeting.
  5. Sent emails to Rachel Cardwell and Barbara Racine about prizes. Picked up prizes from bookstore. Can purchase more at discount.
  6. Got replies from 3 of the charity groups: L’Arche, Puget Creek, and EFN. Working on dates/times.
  7. Updated, printed and delivered posters to library.
  8. Left messages for Randy Stearnes of Tacoma Power about Feb. 3 kick-off. Confirmed Randy to attend 2.3.

  12. Created postcard with events. Ordered printed in black and white because color was too expensive.

Week of 1.19.10

Short week because of the MLK holiday.

  • Welcome site planning meeting.
  • Got concerned email from Jane Carlin about use of UPSID on faculty pages. Sent reply outlining situation and notified WSG and Jimmy/Jeff of the email from Jane. (Bill Breitenbach called her; I emailed him about our discussion.) Left messages with HR, Barbara Racine, and Steven Davis about use of the UPS ID number to verify.
  1. Update: Talked with Mark Young who feels like we can and should make change to user names; he will add to their workflow to check page URLs when change faculty user names. MY talking with MC before announcing and scheduling work.

  1. Sent note to Student Life bloggers to post this week. Sent reminder to student athletes to post. Sent reminder invitation to additional student athletes to try to get a few more.
  2. Added Hannah and Erin as bloggers.
  3. Added new posts from Alayna, Mikayla, Maureen, Lisa, and Hannah.
  4. Sent reminder to Jack Pearce-Droge about community service blog idea. Sent reminder to Justin about outdoor programs blog idea. Sent query to CES about intern bloggers–only 2 committed. Need three.
  5. Extended media upload space to 300MB.

Week of 1.11.10

  • Professional Development Week!
  1. Taught four classes: Social media, Best practices, CMS Basics, CMS Advanced. Good turnout for all, but especially for CMS Advanced; need to offer more regularly. Also think we need to learn a little about Google Analytics and then offer something on that.
  2. Attended one class on sustainability and met Kristi Lynett, sustainability coordinator for city.
  3. Offered to put HR’s prof dev class eval form online if they were interested.
  4. Sent follow up emails with links to social media and best practices groups. Still need to do CMS accounts for those classes.

  1. Added Ana Calciano’s info to student athlete blog; added Cony Craighead’s bio to study abroad blog.
  2. Updated Voices posts for Alayna and Julie.
  3. Deleted 5000+ spam comments on the one place I forgot to turn comments off (postgrad blog about page). Grrrr.

  • Worked with Admission on 422 forms to be integrated into site with iframe.

  1. Voices blogs (updated before break; after break, removed Maddy; updated Kelsey, Julie, Adrienne; added Alayna, Lisa); added 2 related blogs (irrelevancey and globaloney)
  2. Express Yourself: Added Amelia Vance composition to Crosscurrents PDF and added link to MP3 of composition performance (after converting with WAV to MP3 converter found on CNET); added Elements feature.
  3. Wrote profile for Keith Blocker and sent invitation, but no response yet.
  • Planned professional development courses:
  1. Sat down with Sarah and brainstormed layout of social media class; invited SMTF to participate.
  2. Started identifying tasks for Advanced CMS class and Best Practices class.
  3. Modified CMS Basic manual.

  1. Sent status notes to group with sample posters before break.
  2. Confirmed planning meeting to nail down events/speakers and plan RA training.

  • Helped MK with HelpDesk/TechHelp/Service Desk updates around site. This helped me find the problem with Search showing duplicate pages, which I reported to Mark on 1.5.10.
  • News problem with not showing more than one page of news listings reported 1.5.10; passed onto Fastspot; they sent update to fix on 1.6.10.
  • Learned how to do Blog CSS myself. 🙂 1.6.10.
  • Typed up draft of Recycled Rag. Notified Shirley about signing up as charter participant for STARS. Signed up for STARS webinar.
  • Worked with Admission on integration of 422 form into new site via iframe.
  • Got event module modifications SOW signed and faxed to Fastspot. Scheduled kick-off.
  • Started working on web strategic plan.
