On Wednesday, August 18, TS began using a new anti-spam/anti-virus e-mail gateway, Microsoft’s Forefront Protection for Exchange (FPE), to filter unwanted messages. FPE replaces the former product used for this purpose, Sophos PureMessage.
We are very pleased to make this change since it provides an easier to use, more reliable, and cost-effective solution for managing e-mail. For more information, see our page on the Anti-Spam Filter.
All Puget Sound e-mail accounts have been moved to our new Microsoft Exchange 2007 server. Congratulations to the Network and Server Systems Group for completing this project which greatly benefits university e-mail users!
All student mailboxes were moved to the new server by September 24, and Technology Services is now moving faculty and staff mailboxes as well. The migration offers many benefits, including increased mailbox size and more robust functionality in Webmail.
Technology Services will contact each university department or group with support information as they are being migrated to Exchange 2007.
