Cascade Release Cycle Established

Technology Services is pleased to announce the implementation of a standard release cycle for the Cascade system. Non-critical changes to Cascade Web and Cascade Web Forms, including enhancements, features, and fixes, will be developed, tested, and installed as a single unit on a monthly cycle. Emergency and business critical changes will continue to be addressed as needed, independent of the release cycle.

The first release, Cascade 10.4, is planned for April 14, 2010. See the Cascade Release Cycle page to learn more about the features and fixes planned for this upcoming release.

Welcome, William Morse!

Technology Services is pleased to welcome William Morse, the new Chief Technology Officer and Associate Vice President for Technology Services for the University of Puget Sound. William previously served in the role of chief information officer at Oglethorpe University and for the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University. See the Campus News story for more details regarding William’s appointment.

Farewell and Thanks to Mark Cain

Interim CTO Mark Cain finished his tenure with the University of Puget Sound January 29. Technology Services wishes Mark all good luck with future plans and extends a big thank you for his great leadership during the past six months.

Change in Technology Services Support

Effective January 4, 2010, technology support is once again provided exclusively by on campus staff who can be reached by contacting the Technology Service Desk at 253.879.8585 or servicedesk@pugetsound.edu.

This change marks the end of the 24/7 Tech Help service implemented August 3, 2009, through a partnership with an off-site help desk service. The toll-free 800 number offered as a Tech Help feature will no longer be in place.

Service will initially appear much like it did prior to August 3, although faculty members can now utilize a new phone tree feature to immediately escalate classroom emergency calls.
