{"id":757,"date":"2010-06-17T13:47:22","date_gmt":"2010-06-17T21:47:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.ups.edu\/studyingabroad\/?p=757"},"modified":"2010-06-17T13:47:22","modified_gmt":"2010-06-17T21:47:22","slug":"whoever-said-it-rains-in-ireland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.pugetsound.edu\/studyingabroad\/2010\/06\/17\/whoever-said-it-rains-in-ireland\/","title":{"rendered":"Whoever said it rains in Ireland&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;was a big, fat liar!\u00a0 It has been nothing but sun, sun, sun.\u00a0 And when I say that, I hope I am not tempting the fates to pour down liquid sunshine.\u00a0 I get enough of that at home.\u00a0 But seriously, there has been enough sun to better than lovely sun glasses tan line that I have on my nose.\u00a0 Attractive, really.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>So I tried to put up a picture of Trinity, where my internship is.\u00a0 It failed, as you can blatantly see.\u00a0 Today was my last day this week, yay!\u00a0 Such a long week.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a cool place, don&#8217;t get me wrong.\u00a0 But I want to SEE things too!\u00a0 By the time I get off, nearly everything is closed.\u00a0 And some of the people I&#8217;m working with&#8230;well, Murray.\u00a0 He&#8217;s the lawyer there, the barister, if you will.\u00a0 He is the most awkward little fellow you will ever meet.\u00a0 And then of course there is Dr. McGuckin, whom I mainly work for.\u00a0 That&#8217;s probably enough said right there.\u00a0 The smoothest one there is the younger, calmer Garret O&#8217;Moore with whom I got to sit in with today to\u00a0watch in a psychological assessment!\u00a0 Very cool and\u00a0difficult to\u00a0find this\u00a0opportunity elsewhere.\u00a0 The poor woman was crying the whole time though&#8230;it was an eye-opener definitely.\u00a0\u00a0Probably\u00a0shouldn&#8217;t say much more.\u00a0 What else&#8230;there are 4 other American interns, 2 of which have already started, with me.\u00a0 We have been getting lunch and sometimes\u00a0going out for Irish\u00a0coffee and chocolates after the long day at work!\u00a0 Hahaha, rrrright.\u00a0 It&#8217;s been good though, I am excited as well because now I get to write up the report\u00a0on the woman who was in the assessment and possibly partake in more research\u00a0to do\u00a0with the &#8220;Red Balloon,&#8221; an organization that sets up schools\u00a0for kids who&#8217;ve been bullied out of school.\u00a0\u00a0It&#8217;s exceptionally interesting because I&#8217;ll get to use all that crazy statistical stuff I learned in psy 201\/301!\u00a0 YAY&#8230; kidding, sort of.\u00a0 But seriously, they want to know what a good sample size would be.\u00a0 This sounds vaguely familiar&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>And as\u00a0for other things.\u00a0 I haven&#8217;t gotten to do much in the evenings, because, as I already mentioned, nothing is open very late, except the pubs!\u00a0 I&#8217;ve definitely walked\u00a0my calves into\u00a0shape though.\u00a0Man.\u00a0 At least\u00a0an hour and half of walking a day.\u00a0 I&#8217;m not talking nonchalantly bumbling along.\u00a0 I mean real, hardcore,\u00a0Irish-style citywalking.\u00a0 (Alright, alright.\u00a0 I have been taking some breaks in\u00a0Steven&#8217;s Green on\u00a0the way in the morning.\u00a0 I\u00a0always have extra time!)\u00a0 Also, this week, Monday-ish, I sort of had a panic attack.\u00a0\u00a0It was great.\u00a0 It comes with the anxiety territory.\u00a0\u00a0At least I knew what it was this time.\u00a0\u00a0But yay for Irish\u00a0counselors&#8230;let me just say, American ones are way more\u00a0awesome and way less awkward, like, they don&#8217;t stare at you in silence for an hour and never laugh when you do&#8230;it was FUN!\u00a0 pshh.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Anyways, this weekend I&#8217;m going to get Kerry-ed away!\u00a0 I&#8217;m\u00a0going to visit County Kerry, more specifically, Dingle!\u00a0 Silly name, right?\u00a0 I think so.\u00a0 Anyways, I&#8217;m really excited because it&#8217;ll be traditional, beautiful, green, countryside\u00a0Ireland.\u00a0 Like the movies maybe.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I guess that&#8217;s all really.\u00a0 I&#8217;m sorry this isn&#8217;t SUPER exciting.\u00a0 I will tell you, my lucky housemate went to the Jameson Distillery and met PINK!\u00a0 And she was shwastey!\u00a0 Lucky her!\u00a0 Apparently, she was\u00a0chill.\u00a0 So, not a mean drunk.\u00a0 Cool.\u00a0 And&#8230;.cut.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>And btw, I didn&#8217;t really feel that I got it acrossed.\u00a0 But I do love it here!\u00a0 Yay!\u00a0 \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#8230;was a big, fat liar!\u00a0 It has been nothing but sun, sun, sun.\u00a0 And when I say that, I hope I am not tempting the fates to pour down liquid sunshine.\u00a0 I get enough of that at home.\u00a0 But seriously, &hellip;
