{"id":5413,"date":"2013-04-15T06:22:56","date_gmt":"2013-04-15T13:22:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.pugetsound.edu\/studyingabroad\/?p=5413"},"modified":"2013-04-15T07:14:20","modified_gmt":"2013-04-15T14:14:20","slug":"tidbits-and-sundries","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.pugetsound.edu\/studyingabroad\/2013\/04\/15\/tidbits-and-sundries\/","title":{"rendered":"Tidbits and Sundries"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Germans do not understand the difference between cupcakes and muffins.\u00a0 I have tried to explain, several times, and I have even <em>baked<\/em> both, as examples, but they do not understand.\u00a0 This completely mystifies me, since I have seen muffins all over the place, and there is even a little cupcake shop in Berlin, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.tigertoertchen.de\/\">Tiger Toertchen<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The lovely Kayla visited me, this weekend.\u00a0 My first visitor!\u00a0 I guess Greifswald is not high up on people&#8217;s places to visit, unlike Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, etc.\u00a0 Sadly, the weather was less than excellent, but we braved the damp cold, and walked around the Innenstadt.\u00a0 Our time together was particularly low-key, since I just happened to also get sick on Friday.\u00a0 This is particularly bad timing, since I was supposed to co-chaperone one of the 12th grade classes on Tuesday.\u00a0 They are going to the zoo in Rostock, and I really, really wanted to go!\u00a0 I miss my 12th graders, and I&#8217;ve never been to Rostock (except for the train station).\u00a0 Judging by my current half-alive, half-dead state, I will not be going.\u00a0 \ud83d\ude41\u00a0 Crossing my fingers for a recovery by Friday&#8211; Fabian, Mackenzie and I are going to go to Berlin for the weekend, to see the Wise Guys in concert.<\/p>\n<p>What I do when I am sick:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">sleep<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">appreciate how I am no longer in school, and I don&#8217;t have to worry about falling behind<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">watch classic Doctor Who<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">sleep<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">watch the new Doctor Who episode<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">spend hours browsing Doctor Who-themed tumblrs<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">sleep<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">watch classic Doctor Who<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">go back to the tumblrs<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">complain to my roommates about being sick, thus coercing them into feeding me and giving me cold meds.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">oooh, drugs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">sleep.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.pugetsound.edu\/studyingabroad\/files\/2013\/04\/thumb_davidtennantdoc.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-5416\" alt=\"thumb_davidtennantdoc\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.pugetsound.edu\/studyingabroad\/files\/2013\/04\/thumb_davidtennantdoc-233x300.jpg\" width=\"233\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.pugetsound.edu\/studyingabroad\/files\/2013\/04\/thumb_davidtennantdoc-233x300.jpg 233w, https:\/\/blogs.pugetsound.edu\/studyingabroad\/files\/2013\/04\/thumb_davidtennantdoc.jpg 572w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 233px) 100vw, 233px\" \/><\/a> Can&#8217;t&#8230;
