{"id":3879,"date":"2012-08-30T20:50:56","date_gmt":"2012-08-31T04:50:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.ups.edu\/studyingabroad\/?p=3879"},"modified":"2012-08-30T20:50:56","modified_gmt":"2012-08-31T04:50:56","slug":"the-final-countdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.pugetsound.edu\/studyingabroad\/2012\/08\/30\/the-final-countdown\/","title":{"rendered":"The Final Countdown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Final Countdown.<\/p>\n<p>Seven days.\u00a0 Seven days until I board a plane in SeaTac and fly to Deutschland.\u00a0 People keep asking me if I am excited.\u00a0 Well, duh.\u00a0 Of course I am!\u00a0 Moving to a foreign country for a year isn&#8217;t exactly something done on a whim (at least, not by most people).\u00a0 The planning and preparation that comes beforehand?\u00a0 Got it covered.\u00a0 I am Queen of Planning and Organizing.\u00a0 The actual packing, boarding the plane, and leaving?\u00a0 The uprooting of everything?\u00a0 That&#8217;s a little more difficult.\u00a0 People keep asking me if I am nervous.\u00a0 Well, duh.\u00a0 As titillated as I am, I am also just as trepidatious.\u00a0 It&#8217;s a dizzying mixture of &#8220;Ohmigod, I&#8217;m moving to <em>Germany<\/em>!!!!&#8221; and &#8220;Ohmigod.\u00a0 I&#8217;m <em>moving<\/em> to Germany.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I haven&#8217;t <em>exactly<\/em> started packing, yet.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve spent the last two days going through my things, sorting them into three piles.\u00a0 Pile one:\u00a0 Stuff That I Cannot Possibly Live Without, Oh My Gosh No.\u00a0 Pile two:\u00a0 Why Do I Even Own This Sh*t?\u00a0 Pile 3:\u00a0 I Want This, But It Won&#8217;t Fit In My Suitcase; Therefore, Tell Boyfriend To Ship Later.\u00a0 (See?\u00a0 I told you I am organized.)\u00a0 Pile one is already distressingly large, considering that I&#8217;ve yet to put any clothes in it.\u00a0 Or shoes.\u00a0 I suppose there is only so much predicting one can do about what will be useful for a year abroad, but that pesky little (well, major) part of my personality that frets about such things is not convinced.\u00a0 Must. Plan.\u00a0 Must.
