But what am I indulging in? The words that come to mind are: passive (relaxed), delicate, broken, light (of little consequence)\u2026<\/p>\n<p>This\u00a0picture appears\u00a0here because of how much it is like a dance movement. Which is why I would like to be able to say I like it\u2026 But does that just mean that I allow all these adjectives for the feminine to appear in dance? Furthermore, this must indicate to some extent how I want to be perceived as a dancer (and as a woman).<\/p>\n<p><em>p.s. The name of the flickr stream where this comes from is &#8220;arti_ficial.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I think it&#8217;s so important to be paying attention to what we&#8217;re visually buying into, as much as ethically, educationally,\u00a0and literally, if not moreso.\u00a0Visual rhetoric (along with movies)\u00a0can\u00a0be\u00a0so subversive&#8211;and effective&#8211;because\u00a0it (they) affront you while you&#8217;re passive, just taking in the image\u00a0as your eye is meant to do, while other acts of buying into ideals are more active&#8211;you make a forward-moving choice and it, in turn,\u00a0moves you toward that ideal (materialism, the broken feminine, etc).<\/p>\n<p>[for the whole story, or more parts of it, trot to <a href=\"http:\/\/honestmovement.tumblr.com\/\">http:\/\/honestmovement.tumblr.com\/<\/a>\u00a0] <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Example of the sort of conflated feminine portraiture\/fashion\u00a0photography\u00a0circulating\u00a0in UO\u00a0and on\u00a0Tumblr&#8230; right now.
