\nOERs are free, ready-to-use content for your classes.\u00a0 OERs can reduce costs for students while at the same time offer faculty the opportunity to tailor content to a specific class. Creators and users are free\u00a0to\u00a0retain\u00a0rights,\u00a0reuse\u00a0content,\u00a0remix\u00a0content,\u00a0revise\u00a0content, or\u00a0redistribute\u00a0content.\u00a0 The LibGuide<\/a> Open Education Resources: OER Explained<\/em> will provide you with general information about what is currently available and how to get started.\u00a0 Look for a Wednesday@4 on this topic.\u00a0 If you want to know more, contact Ben Tucker: btucker@pugetsound.edu<\/a><\/p>\n

Life Skills:

\nLynda.com Kiosks:
\n<\/strong>Did you know that the Tech Center and the Library Learning Commons both provide access to Lynda.com kiosks?\u00a0 This online learning service provides access to literally hundreds of training programs.\u00a0 You can learn anything from Photoshop, Excel, WordPress, graphic design, personal finance tips, JavaScript, animation and even making a comic book.\u00a0 This is a useful resource for anyone who wants to enhance their technical skills and useful for students who have an interest in using technology as a platform to share research and ideas.<\/p>\n

Data Management:<\/strong><\/a>
\nThe Library is here to help you plan and execute a data management plan.\u00a0 A data management plan (DMP) helps researchers work with, manage, share and archive their data effectively. \u00a0A DMP typically describes: what<\/strong>\u00a0data will be produced as a part of the project, how<\/strong>\u00a0each type of data will be organized, documented, standardized, stored, protected, shared and archived, who<\/strong>\u00a0will take responsibility for carrying out the activities listed above, and when<\/strong>\u00a0these activities will take place over the course of the project (and beyond).\u00a0 This summer, Eli Gandour-Rood hosted a NW5 Symposium on this topic, joined by many Puget Sound faculty and students.\u00a0 Contact Eli for more information: \u00a0egandourood@pugetsound.edu<\/a><\/p>\n
