Founded in 2010 by three sociologists, Valerie Chepp, Paul Dean, and Lester Andrist, who shared an interest in using videos for effective sociology instruction.<\/p>\n<p>The site features documentaries, news clips, and bits of popular films but what makes the site stand out is its tags and categories that allow you to browse films by topic. For instance, if you click on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesociologicalcinema.com\/videos\/category\/marxmarxism858841b2ca\">Marx\/Marism tag<\/a> you\u2019ll find discussions of explaining Marx using <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesociologicalcinema.com\/videos\/we-dont-need-no-education-pink-floyds-marxist-lesson-plan\">Pink Floyd<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesociologicalcinema.com\/videos\/class-conflict-in-look-down-from-les-miserables\">Les Mis\u00e9rables<\/a>, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesociologicalcinema.com\/videos\/category\/commodification\">Commodification tag<\/a> will provide you with video of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesociologicalcinema.com\/videos\/portlandia-a-satire-on-commodity-de-fetishism\">Portlandia<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesociologicalcinema.com\/videos\/cornel-west-on-success-commodity-fetishism-and-greatness\">Cornel West<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thesociologicalcinema.com\/videos\/marxs-commodity-fetishism-and-theory-of-value\">Macklemore<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>By Ben Tucker, Social Sciences Librarian<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>How do we, as individuals, learn about sociology?
