Tea, cookies, and conversation at the Behind the Archives Door series.<\/p>\n<p>Jessica Spring, local Tacoma letterpress printer and owner of <a href=\"springtidepress.com\">Springtide Press<\/a>, will discuss her recent work as shown in <em>reCollection: An Ephemeral Exhibition of Exquisite &amp; Eclectic Ephemera<\/em>, which was on display at the <a href=\"http:\/\/spaceworkstacoma.com\/tag\/jessica-spring\/\">Spaceworks Artscape<\/a> from September \u2013 December 2014. \u00a0Jessica\u2019s talk will focus on the process of collecting and the curation of personal archives.\u00a0 \u201cWhen used by collectors, the term \u2018ephemera\u2019 describes materials, often paper, that have little value beyond their intended use,\u201d says Spring. Matchbooks, postcards and milk bottle caps are examples. \u201cThese objects serve to light a cigarette, send a message, or protect a bottle of milk, but they also provide a glimpse of another place and time.\u201d\u00a0 Jessica will share examples of the ephemera as well as talk about how the curation of the collection has inspired and influenced her own art.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Please join us!
