{"id":6021,"date":"2014-06-16T08:37:43","date_gmt":"2014-06-16T15:37:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.pugetsound.edu\/collinsunbound\/?p=6021"},"modified":"2014-06-16T08:37:43","modified_gmt":"2014-06-16T15:37:43","slug":"collins-library-links-librarians-and-faculty-teaching-and-learning-partnerships","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.pugetsound.edu\/collinsunbound\/collins-library-links-librarians-and-faculty-teaching-and-learning-partnerships\/","title":{"rendered":"Collins Library Links: Librarians and Faculty- Teaching and Learning Partnerships"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.pugetsound.edu\/collinsunbound\/files\/2013\/09\/2013_CollinsLibraryLink.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-4643\" alt=\"2013_CollinsLibraryLink\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.pugetsound.edu\/collinsunbound\/files\/2013\/09\/2013_CollinsLibraryLink.jpg\" width=\"722\" height=\"114\" srcset=\"https:\/\/blogs.pugetsound.edu\/collinsunbound\/files\/2013\/09\/2013_CollinsLibraryLink.jpg 722w, https:\/\/blogs.pugetsound.edu\/collinsunbound\/files\/2013\/09\/2013_CollinsLibraryLink-300x47.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 722px) 100vw, 722px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><b style=\"color: #6f2016\">Librarians and Faculty- Teaching and Learning Partnerships<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>As the academic year draws to a close, we would like to extend our thanks for your support of library programs and services and to the LMIS Committee for providing assistance and advice as we move towards the implementation of the our new library system.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>We value our academic partnerships in and out of the classroom and would like to share some updates about our efforts to engage students this past academic year.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Librarians held over <b>1,200 research consultations <\/b>with students and taught nearly <b>400 library<\/b> sessions.<\/li>\n<li>During the spring 2014 semester, librarians partnered with faculty in <b>88 percent (36 out of 41) of the new SSI2 sections<\/b>, helping our students gain a solid foundation in research skills in preparation for their upper-level courses.<\/li>\n<li>Librarians have created <b>344 online research guides<\/b>\u2014ranging from subject guides to specific course guides to quick self-help guides on topics such as academic integrity and finding statistics.\u00a0 Between August 26, 2013 and May 9, 2014, students consulted these guides 112,505 times!\u00a0 During the peak research weeks leading up to the end of the semester, students used these guides more than a thousand times a day.<\/li>\n<li>The Library now has a \u00a0<b>Peer Research Advisor<\/b> position.\u00a0 The Peer Research Advisor will work closely with the Library Director and the Coordinator of Information Literacy to develop unique user-centered programs for first year students that will support and guide their introduction to scholarly practices and research methods during the first year.<\/li>\n<li><b>Four art history students served as guest curators<\/b>, working under the direction and guidance of the Archivist and Library Director, for the exhibition focusing on the collections and life of Professor Stan Shelmidine.
