{"id":4827,"date":"2013-10-01T07:00:57","date_gmt":"2013-10-01T14:00:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.pugetsound.edu\/collinsunbound\/?p=4827"},"modified":"2013-09-30T12:08:53","modified_gmt":"2013-09-30T19:08:53","slug":"from-the-archives-celebrating-archives-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.pugetsound.edu\/collinsunbound\/from-the-archives-celebrating-archives-month\/","title":{"rendered":"From the Archives: Celebrating Archives Month!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.pugetsound.edu\/collinsunbound\/files\/2013\/09\/Oct.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4828\" alt=\"Oct\" src=\"http:\/\/blogs.pugetsound.edu\/collinsunbound\/files\/2013\/09\/Oct.jpg\" width=\"185\" height=\"201\" \/><\/a>October is <a href=\"http:\/\/www2.archivists.org\/initiatives\/american-archives-month\">Archives Month<\/a> and the Archives &amp; Special Collections are celebrating!<\/p>\n<p>We continue our Behind the Archives Door series with talks on October 1<sup>st<\/sup> and 15<sup>th<\/sup> by Amy Fisher, Professor of Science, Technology and Society who will discuss our 18<sup>th<\/sup> century rare books on electricity and Beau Beausoleil, curator and poet of <i>The Al-Mutanabbi Book Arts Exhibit.\u00a0 <\/i>All talks begin at 4:00 p.m. outside of the Archives &amp; Special Collections on the second floor of the Collins Library.<\/p>\n<p>On October 25<sup>th<\/sup> from 2:00 \u2013 5:00 p.m. the Archives &amp; Special Collections will hold an Open House, feel free to stop by and browse the collections!\u00a0 At the end of the Open House we will formally \u201cseal\u201d our 125<sup>th<\/sup> Anniversary time capsule!<\/p>\n<p>Finally, we have a small exhibit featuring material from the Doug Edwards papers on display near the circulation desk (check back Thursday for more details)!\u00a0 This exhibit was curated by student archivists Maya Steinborn \u201914 and Morgan Ford \u201917.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>October is Archives Month and the Archives &amp; Special Collections are celebrating!
