STATS America compiles publicly available and proprietary data, and then provides a user interface that generates reports and maps with requested economic and demographic information.<\/p>\n<p>One useful value-added service <a href=\"http:\/\/statsamerica.org\/\">STATS America<\/a>\u00a0 provides is the means to easily compare geographic areas e.g., comparing Pierce County, WA with Bernalillo County, NM. \u00a0It also provides analysis through its <a href=\"http:\/\/www.statsamerica.org\/innovation\/\">Innovation in American Regions<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.statsamerica.org\/distress\/distress.html\">Measuring Distress<\/a> tools, which measure innovation and distress respectively through a combination of component indexes (details of calculations are available on the site).<\/p>\n<p>STATS America is a service of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ibrc.indiana.edu\/\">Indiana Business Research Center<\/a>\u00a0 at Indiana University funded by the U.S. Commerce Department.
