<\/strong>The easiest way to find e-books available through the Collins Memorial Library is through our catalog, <a href=\"http:\/\/pugetsound.worldcat.org\/\">Puget Sound WorldCat.<\/a> Our <a href=\"http:\/\/alacarte.pugetsound.edu\/subject-guide\/153-e-Books-at-Collins-Library\">Guide to e-books<\/a> provides step-by-step instructions on searching for e-books.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What type of e-books does the Library have? <\/strong>We currently provide access to a variety of e-books from academic monographs to reference resources.\u00a0 These are a few of our main e-book providers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/orbis.eblib.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">EBL<\/a>:\u00a0 EBL (Ebook Library) offers tens of thousands of individual e-books spanning a wide range of academic and professional subject areas.\u00a0 You can browse by categories such as Fine Arts, Social Sciences, or Business and Management, then limit by year or language.\u00a0 Or search for a specific title.\u00a0 This is our most up-to-date e-book collection and one that is available as a result of our Orbis Cascade Alliance collaboration.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><a href=\"http:\/\/ezproxy.ups.edu\/login?url=http:\/\/search.ebscohost.com\/login.aspx?authtype=ip,uid&amp;profile=ehost&amp;defaultdb=nlebk\">EBSCO E-Books<\/a>:<\/span> There are a significant number of e-books available through the EBSCOhost platform, however, because Collins Library does not purchase new e-books from EBSCO,\u00a0most of these e-books are older.\u00a0 To download e-books you will need to create a &#8220;My EBSCOhost&#8221; account.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ezproxy.ups.edu\/login?url=http:\/\/go.galegroup.com\/ps\/start.do?p=GVRL&amp;u=taco25438&amp;authCount=1\">Gale Virtual Reference Library<\/a>:\u00a0 Provides full text access to over 100 encyclopedias and other electronic reference sources from a variety of publishers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ezproxy.ups.edu\/login?url=http:\/\/www.oxfordreference.com\">Oxford Reference Online<\/a>:\u00a0 Contains the complete texts of over 200 Oxford companions, encyclopedias, dictionaries and other reference titles which, beyond text articles, include images, maps, timelines, bibliographies, photographs and much more.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ezproxy.ups.edu\/login?url=http:\/\/sage-ereference.com\/\">Sage Reference Online<\/a>:\u00a0 A collection of the electronic versions of many of Sage&#8217;s print encyclopedias and handbooks including, the <em>Encyclopedia of Activism and Social Justice<\/em>, <em>Encyclopedia of African American Society<\/em>, <em>International Encyclopedia of Political Science, Encyclopedia of Business Ethics and Society<\/em>, <em>Encyclopedia of Children, Adolescents, and the Media<\/em>, and the <em>Handbook of Death &amp; Dying<\/em> to name just a few.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How can I download Collins e-books?:<\/strong> EBL and EBSCO e-books are available for download in EPUB, a format especially designed for electronic books.\u00a0\u00a0These files can be downloaded to your home computer or laptop, and also to many mobile devices including\u00a0dedicated e-book readers such as the Nook, or generic mobile devices such as the iPhone or iPad, or Android tablets and phones.\u00a0 Both EBL and EBSCO e-books are designed for Adobe Digital Editions. To access all of Adobe Digital Editions features, and to avoid interruptions when you\u2019re downloading to a mobile device, register for an Adobe Digital ID.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.adobe.com\/products\/digitaleditions\/\" target=\"_blank\">Get Adobe Digital Editions<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.adobe.com\/cfusion\/membership\/index.cfm?nf=1&amp;amp;nl=1&amp;amp;loc=en_us%20%20%20\" target=\"_blank\">Sign up for an Adobe Digital ID<\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you don&#8217;t have a dedicated e-reader (like Nook, Sony, or Kobo) and are using an iOS or android device, you will need software that allows you to read the e-book. \u00a0Bluefire e-book reader\u00a0is available\u00a0for both android and iOS devices.\u00a0 You can get Bluefire Reader as you download your first e-book.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bluefirereader.com\/bluefire-reader.html\" target=\"_blank\">Get the Bluefire e-book reader app<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Is there a good guide to \u201cfree\u201d e-books? <\/strong> We have listed many popular open source or \u201cfree\u201d e-book collections on our Guide to e-books.\u00a0 Some of the more popular collections are:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.gutenberg.org\/wiki\/Main_Page\" target=\"_blank\">Project Gutenberg<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Offers over 36,000 free e-books to download to your PC, Kindle, iPad, iPhone, Android or other portable device. Choose between ePub, Kindle, HTML and simple text formats.
