Research Skills – \u00a0Tips to Help Your Students Succeed<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s time to dust off the books (literally in Collins Library after a summer of construction) and get ready for the fall semester.\u00a0 We know that students (new and returning) can benefit from a research refresher so we would like to remind you that you can provide a link in your course syllabus or Moodle site to a variety of resources we have designed to help students.<\/p>\n

Research 101<\/a>:\u00a0 Research 101 is an interactive online tutorial for students who want or need an introduction to research skills.\u00a0 It consists of six modules that cover how to select a topic and develop research questions, as well as how to select, search for, find, and evaluate information sources.\u00a0 Each section includes a short review quiz for students and is tailored to library resources specific to the University of Puget Sound.<\/p>\n

Academic Integrity @ Puget Sound<\/a>:\u00a0This tutorial provides an overview of issues associated with Academic Integrity, such as avoiding plagiarism and understanding common knowledge standards.\u00a0 Like Research 101, the site provides a series of exercises with interactive quizzes designed to provide immediate feedback to students.<\/p>\n

Welcome Page<\/a>:\u00a0 Designed for new students, including transfer students, this page provides a great introduction to library resources and services with video clips offering advice from upper-division students.<\/p>\n

Subject Guides:\u00a0 Want to make sure that students connect with quality resources in your field?\u00a0 Simply link to one of our many subject guides or make an appointment with your liaison librarian to develop a guide uniquely designed for your course.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Citation Styles:<\/span> We know students get stressed about proper citation styles and often give up in frustration, \u00a0which can lead to inaccurate citation and plagiarism.\u00a0 Start the semester off with a link to our web page that provides online guidance to citation styles as well as links to the bibliographic management tools: Zotero and RefWorks.<\/p>\n
