Tacoma, WA \u2014 <\/strong>Puget Sound Book Artists (PSBA) proudly marks a milestone year with its 15th Annual Members\u2019 Exhibition<\/strong>, a celebration of creativity, community, and the art of the book. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Centered on the theme \u201c15,\u201d <\/strong>the 2026 exhibition invites artists to reflect on the past, honor achievements, and imagine the future. From fifteen years of friendship to journeys lasting fifteen days, from collections of fifteen meaningful objects to explorations of the number itself the exhibition offers unique interpretations of this anniversary theme. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jane Carlin, one of the PSBA founders and a member of this year\u2019s curatorial committee, reflects on the organization\u2019s remarkable journey: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s really gratifying to think back over the last 15 years and reflect upon all the accomplishments of this organization. When I first arrived in Tacoma, I was hopeful it would be possible to form a book arts community\u2014the growth and influence of PSBA is beyond my wildest dreams! To think we have held fifteen exhibitions is simply amazing, and it\u2019s wonderful to see this reflected in this year\u2019s entries.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Mark Hoppmann, former PSBA President and member of the 2026 curatorial team, reflects on the evolution of PSBA:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n

\u201cOur inaugural exhibition in 2011 was curated by Lucia Harrison and the late MalPina Chan to whom this exhibition is dedicated. In their opening statement they wrote, \u2018Books by nature are intimate, interactive, and engage the reader.\u2019 That observation remains true today as we share the work of 68 artists in this milestone exhibition.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

In 2011, 26 artists participated in PSBA\u2019s first show, exploring a wide range of formats and materials.  This year\u2019s exhibition features the work of 70 of our members, reflecting not only the growth of our organization but also the expanding creative voices within our membership.  Artists interpreted the theme of \u201c15\u201d in a variety of thoughtful and inventive ways.  Approaches included exploring the symbolism of the number itself; posing and responding to a series of fifteen questions; reflecting on fifteen years of artist practice and friendship; engaging with both contemporary and historical political and social issues; as well as assembling collections of 15 images, specimens, and artifacts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 We warmly invite the public to join us in celebrating 15 years of art, collaboration, and community. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
