Reading and Relaxing in the Time of COVID19<\/strong><\/p>\n

During this stressful time for our community, please be reminded that Collins Library offers you a number of resources that might provide some escape from the worry that we are all facing.\u00a0 Before you leave for spring break, and\/or while you\u2019re away from campus, consider the following:<\/p>\n

Check out a Popular Reading Book:<\/strong>\u00a0 We have extended our loan policies for our Popular Reading Collection<\/a><\/strong><\/span>.\u00a0 Explore a biography, a mystery or recent work of non-fiction.\u00a0 The books are located in the Learning Commons.<\/p>\n

Are your children home from School?\u00a0 <\/strong>In addition to your local public library, Collins Library has a nice collection of books for Children and Young Adults.\u00a0 For fiction, browse the PZ\u2019s up on the fourth floor.\u00a0 For non-fiction, search Primo for a topic of interest and add the word \u201cjuvenile\u201d to your search.<\/p>\n

Read the Classics!\u00a0 <\/strong>Consider catching up on Jane Austen, Shakespeare, Hemingway, Charles Dickens and more.\u00a0 Browse the PR and PS section of the Library on the 3rd<\/sup> floor for classic favorites.<\/p>\n

On the Go?\u00a0 Check out an Ebook:<\/strong>\u00a0 Our electronic book collections offer a number of great books to occupy your mind for a few hours of relaxation.\u00a0 A few titles come to mind, like:\u00a0 An Introduction to Yoga<\/em><\/strong> by Annie Besant, Festive Ukrainian Cooking<\/em><\/strong> by Marta Pisetska Farley, Seed Libraries And Other Means of Keeping Seeds in the Hands of the People<\/em><\/strong> by Cindy Conner or Out of the Woods: A Bird Watcher’s Year<\/em> <\/strong>by Ora E. Anderson, Deborah Griffith, Jean Andrews, and Jean Andrews.\u00a0 You can search Primo for electronic books or browse individual collections like the Ebook Central<\/strong><\/a> <\/span>collection offered by ProQuest. \u00a0But remember, you do have to login with your Puget Sound account information.<\/p>\n

Music:<\/strong>\u00a0 We all know the power of music to inspire and relax. Check out the \u00a0Naxos Music Library<\/a><\/span>.<\/strong>\u00a0 <\/em>It is a comprehensive collection of classical music available online. It includes thousands of tracks. Select works by composer, artist, period, year of composition, instrument or genre. Playlists can also be created. Includes information about the works, artists and composers.<\/p>\n

Craving <\/strong>t<\/strong>ravel but your plans have been cancelled?<\/strong>\u00a0 Check out the travel programs on Films on Demand<\/a><\/strong><\/span> like:\u00a0 Patagonia, Chile: Don’t Forget Your Passport<\/a><\/em><\/span>,\u00a0 On Holiday in Germany<\/em><\/strong> or Rick Steves’ Europe<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n
