\"\"<\/a>Collins Library Links \u2013 Welcome Back Issue \u2013 Part II<\/strong><\/p>\n

Art in the Library<\/strong>:\u00a0 Please take time to stop by the Collins Library and view two outstanding exhibits.\u00a0 Interwoven Stories<\/em><\/strong> showcases pages from a community stitching project developed by Canadian artist Diana Weymar.\u00a0 Included are 23 pages stitched by members of the Puget Sound community.\u00a0 All Stitched Up<\/a> <\/em><\/strong>recognizes and celebrates the work of book artists\u2019 where stitching has become an integral part of the visual design.\u00a0 Included in the exhibit are books from Ohio, Colorado, Minnesota, Texas, California, Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, Virginia, Utah, New Jersey, Iowa, Michigan, New York as well as Canada, Great Britain, the Netherlands, Mexico and Germany.\u00a0 In November we are sponsoring a one day Symposium, supported by the Chism Fund, and will be welcoming Diana Weymar back to campus, as well as Adele Patrick, a leader of the arts and founder of the Glasgow Scotland Women\u2019s Library<\/a>.\u00a0 If you are interested in having one of these book\/paper artists visit your class, please contact Jane Carlin.<\/p>\n

Life Skills Collection:\u00a0 <\/strong>A reminder that the library established a student Life Skills<\/em> collection a few years ago.\u00a0 This collection is maintained by librarian Katy Curtis and is located adjacent to the Learning Commons computers.\u00a0 A guide to the collection is available at this link:\u00a0 http:\/\/research.pugetsound.edu\/c.php?g=528954&p=3617600<\/a><\/p>\n

The purpose of the Life Skills Collection<\/em> is to help students in college and beyond by providing information and resources for essential life skills in areas such as health and wellness, interpersonal relationships, finances, transitioning to college, developing cultural competency, understanding issues of diversity, equity and inclusion, and developing self-esteem and leadership skills.\u00a0 On each page of the guide you will also find helpful links and additional information on University of Puget Sound\u00a0services for specific topics.\u00a0 This collection is growing!\u00a0 Please send recommendations for either individual books or topical areas to Katy Curtis<\/a>, Humanities Librarian at Collins Library.<\/p>\n
