Here&#8217;s one of the first ones I wrote for an assignment called the &#8220;narrative\/place&#8221; poem. It&#8217;s based off my multiple trips to June Lake with my parents every summer. Still a work in progress!<\/p>\n<p><em>June<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Through the sage brush<\/p>\n<p>and wildflowers,<\/p>\n<p>along the softly<\/p>\n<p>speaking<\/p>\n<p>stream,<\/p>\n<p>past the trembling aspens<\/p>\n<p>of a thousand carved out names,<\/p>\n<p>lies a place out of a dream.<\/p>\n<p>Where\u00a0tiny hooves<\/p>\n<p>line dusty paths,<\/p>\n<p>and the air is crisp<\/p>\n<p>and<\/p>\n<p>thin,<\/p>\n<p>over beds of fallen needles<\/p>\n<p>is where summer oft begin.<\/p>\n<p>Where green reeds sway<\/p>\n<p>on silver shores,<\/p>\n<p>and gulls chatter from<\/p>\n<p>the<\/p>\n<p>sky,<\/p>\n<p>the trees sprout hooks and sinkers<\/p>\n<p>that taunt the passers-by.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s here among<\/p>\n<p>the quiet pines,<\/p>\n<p>where jays stretch their wings<\/p>\n<p>and<\/p>\n<p>land,<\/p>\n<p>that love, laughter, and lessons,<\/p>\n<p>start with fishing rod in hand.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This semester Olivia and I are in the same poetry class, so we thought we might post some of the poems we&#8217;ve been working on in class.
