She blends folktales with her family\u2019s history in early twentieth century China and her experiences in California.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Woman Warrior<\/em> was named one of the most influential books of the 70\u2019s by <em>Time <\/em>and won the National Book Critics Circle award.
