B Movie Horror posterFall is application time for many competitive career opportunities and the deadlines can sneak up on you. Here are some of the application dates coming up for popular programs that you’ll want to be aware of:

Peace Corps — October 1, 2011 Priority Deadline

If you want to leave in fall 2012, the October 1st priority date is recommended. Applications will continue to be accepted past this date, but the program encourages applying earlier. You can meet Peace Corps representatives at their October 12 information session and at the Career Fair on October 26.

Teach for America – October 26, 2011

This is the 3rd of 5 deadlines (the next dates are in January and February), but the sooner you apply the sooner you’ll have an answer.

Hitachi Consulting – October 27, 2011

Applications are due to the CES office by noon – send your resume and cover letter via e-mail to lvance@pugetsound.edu. Look for Hitachi representatives at the Career Fair on October 26, but start polishing your resume now!

Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET) – Applications available mid-October

The 2012 applications aren’t available yet – mid to late October is the expected date – but last year’s application deadline was in mid-November. If you’re interested in becoming a participant, you should start gathering your materials in anticipation of the application becoming available soon.

Boeing Summer Internship – November 28, 2011

Students interested in participating in the Boeing Summer Internship are highly encouraged to submit their applications well before the deadline to have the best chance of getting an interview.

Princeton-in-Asia – December 1, 2011

Princeton-in-Asia fellows work in the fields of education, international development (NGOs), environmental advocacy, journalism, law, and business, with a significant number working as English teachers at universities and high schools. Affiliated programs offer opportunities in Latin America and Africa.
