This semester, I had to fulfill my 3d core for my art major.
I’ve already taken ceramics.
I’m afraid of working with wood because of splinters.
So what am I taking? Metal.
Ever heard of a Plasma Cutter? Me neither. Did you you know you can cut steel with an electric flame? I didn’t. Is it a commonly known fact that welding two pieces of steel actually CREATES a single piece of metal? Apparently not.
These things and more are all that I’m learning in my new metal sculpture class! It’s intense. Like, really intense. But it’s also super awesome. Don’t believe me? Check out these artsy-fartsy photos my buddy Daniel Peterschmidt ’15 took while I was working in the shop the other day.
